About Troop 727

Welcome to Troop 727.

Chartered by Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6024 of Mission Viejo, Troop 727 was founded in August of 2012 with just 11 Scouts and now have 34 fun-loving Scouts.  We are an experienced Unit as our Scouts range in rank from Scout to Eagle. Our adults come with many years of Scouting experience and training as well, we have enthusiasm and dedication that is second to none. The Troop has matured as our Scouts have and this is apparent as Troop 727 was selected as Outstanding Scout Unit of the Year 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 by the Department of California Veterans of Foreign Wars. This is a state-wide honor.

This is a Scout-led Unit....no kidding, it is truly Scout-led. It is the goal of our Troop to allow the Scouts to make decisions on what they want to do and how to do them. While this seems crazy, it is the Scouting way. A way that allows a Scout to fail and learn in a safe environment. The adults within the Troop are considered "coaches" not leaders. We coach the Scouts on making the right choices and ensuring that they become members of our community that others can depend on, through the building of their self-confidence.

Our Troop slogan is "For God and Country". While we have fun with many different outdoor activities, we also have a strong focus on "service". Our Scouts find many personal rewards in giving to those in need. Annually we focus on our Veterans through the Valentines for Veterans program as well as reaching out through our local churches and civic leaders.

We are committed to move forward with a great program where the Scouts learn life skills while having fun outdoors.  I hope that you will join us in reaching our goals and I look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming Troop Meetings (2nd and 4th Tuesday @ Melinda Heights Elementary, RSM).

Yours In Scouting,

Jim Clements, Scoutmaster
